Hello all! My name is Teryn Kerr. Welcome to my Sage Internship Blog. Throughout this blog I will be discussing my experiences during my role as an intern with Sage Hospitality. Today I wanted to introduce my self and let you know a little about me. I am a student of Hospitality, Tourism, and Events, with a concentration in Hotel Management. I am currently in my senior year at Metropolitan State University of Denver, and will graduate in May of 2017.

As my junior year at Metro State University of Denver came to an end I had one big requirement on my mind: my internship experience. With graduation only two short semesters away I had to start thinking about how I was going to fulfill this graduation requirement. A good friend of mine was doing the Sage Internship Experience at the time and she recommended that I look into the program.

This week was a particularly busy one for me. I worked a full schedule at my internship and continued with my full time university schedule, took two mid-terms, and conducted one of the biggest events of my student organization this semester. With all that being done, I did happen to learn of a few new happenings within the hotel. What drew my attention as I walked into the lobby one morning was the beautiful cupcake set up that was presented for the guest.

I started my sage internship about a month ago from today. Throughout my time, I’ve been introduced to so many new experiences within the hospitality industry. My internship takes place at the Residence Inn Marriott World Trade in Downtown Manhattan. This is a place where various travelers cross your path and you have to learn how to best accommodate each one.

If you know anything about me… you know that I am goal driven, sometimes a little too heavily. But with that in mind, I have two very specific goals that I want to accomplish throughout my internship and I am so eager to go through the learning process to achieve both of them.
